Are you the kind of person that likes to plan everything out when you travel? It’s not uncommon to be that way, but is it really the best way to get around and see a place? If you ask me, traveling on your instincts and taking a more spontaneous approach to traveling is a better idea. Read more about this below, and then decide whether this is the best option for you.

When You Rely on Your Instincts, You’ll Discover New Things

Traveling around a place that you’ve never been to before is all about seeing new things and trying them out first-hand. This is what traveling should always be about. If you want to go further and learn more, you need to rely on your instincts. You don’t want to be following the guide book every step of the way because that’s never the most interesting option.

By discovering new things that you never expected to discover, your trip will be unique and memorable. And, at the end of the day, that’s what is most important of all.

Your Travels Won’t be Too Rigid

This is a trap that many people fall into. Traveling is not something that should ever be allowed to become too dull and too restricted. When that happens, all of the exploration and the unknown aspects of the trip will become diminished, and that’s definitely not a good thing at all.

The more rigid your travel plans become, the more boring your travel experiences will become. I’m sure that’s not what you want, and relying on your instincts a bit more can change all of that, so make it happen. It’s something that you certainly won’t live to regret.

Each Day Will Present New Opportunities and New Decisions

When you rely on your instinct more, you will find that each day forces you to make new decisions that you didn’t have to make the day before. This is not something to run away from or be daunted by. Instead, you should try to embrace it. You will be in control of your own destiny, and you can make decisions based on how you’re feeling that day.

It makes no sense to follow plans that you set out for yourself 6 months ago. It makes a lot more sense to decide what you want to do and which directions you want to take as you move forward. If you wake up one morning and want to head to another city, you can head to and arrange a lift there. And that’s just one example of how relying on instinct can be fun.

Your Instincts Might be Stronger Than You Think

Many people worry about traveling on their instincts because they don’t trust them. But most people find that their travel instincts are stronger than they imagine. You don’t need to rely on a plan that tells you what to do at every twist and turn along the way. That’s just not necessary.
