The Best Winter Wonderland Vacations To Consider This December

Forget laying around on a beach; at this time of year a stunning winter wonderland vacation is what it’s all about! With the coldest seasons fast approaching, there’s a ton of great opportunities to enjoy a magical wintery vacation.

If you’re looking to go away in the coming weeks or months, here are just a few fabulous vacations to consider.

New York

New York is one of the most visited states in the US, and as the city that has it all, it really is no wonder. But New York around Christmas time is even more spectacular. The bitter frosty weather all adds to its charm while you’re ice skating in Central Park, viewing the gorgeous Christmas lights or counting down to the new year in Times Square.

There are festive events, markets, shows, parades, festivals and so much more. If you’re after a winter wonderland vacation this December, then New York certainly won’t disappoint.

There are a plentiful amount of skiing resorts to consider over the colder months, but there’s a reason why France is the most popular winter destination in Europe. Pretty villages are nestled in amongst striking snow topped mountains, featuring some of the best ski resorts in the world.

Meribel Village, for example, offers luxurious chalets and is close to the slopes as well as the shops. Spend your days gliding through the snow while taking in breathtaking scenic views. You could go skiing, snowboarding, tobogganing or just enjoy the views while warming up with a hot drink. You can’t get much more of a winter wonderland than that!

The charm of Disney is captivating to both young and old. And as wonderful as it is throughout the year, it’s even more special at Christmas. Seeing the park decorated for Christmas really is a magical sight.

You can watch the Christmas parade between November and January, and attend Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. Whether you go in Orlando, California, Paris, Tokyo or any of the other Disney parks, you’re sure to have an unforgettable time.

By far the ‘wintery-est’ place on earth! You can photograph whales, polar bears and seals along the coast, take a ride in a husky pulled sleigh and take in mind-blowing sights. You can go hiking, visit museums, take a dip in a hot spring and so much more.

There are Christmas and new year festivals you can attend. These are celebrated by the people of Greenland in their own characteristic way. Christmas is a particularly festive occasion in Greenland. It is celebrated with lots of candles and red Christmas stars, and these can be seen in the windows of homes and buildings across the country.

The new year is actually celebrated twice! First they bring in the Danish New Year at 8pm (there’s a four hour time difference) and then the Greenlandic New Year at midnight. Expect fireworks, singing and champagne- everything you’d want in a good new year’s party!
