Change The Way You See Adventure

Change The Way You See Adventure

Every sunrise is unique and everyday is a place you've never been before. I took this sunrise photo using my mobile phone from a raging motorcycle and I was so thrilled that it turned out to be so beautiful!

This is what adventure means to me now - every sunrise and every day is a chance to create my own adventure and it doesn't have to be extravagant. This is my story...

If you ask me how I'd describe myself, I would often say - I'm adventurous! I seek and chase adventure! I love doing the extremes like sky diving, bungee jumping, standing on the edge of a cliff, or braving mountains in zero degree temperature - except that I haven't done any of those, not yet.

I used to be so in love with the idea of traveling and globe trotting and leaving my full time job to discover and explore what's out there. To be one with nature and to be lost in cities without worrying about it... primarily because that's what people say an adventurous person is or should be! And I guess there's nothing wrong with that.

But truth be told, here I am sitting in front of my computer with an online home-based writing job until the wee hours of the morning, waking up at noon to prepare my son for kindergarten, and helping my husband with household chores.. while occasionally binge-watching my favorite movies and tv shows online.

Now, what kind of an adventurous person is that?! Let me tell you something.. and this is why I love what I'm writing about today because it's exactly what this blog is all about - my own kind of adventures.

To quote my About page..

"Adventure, to me, is subjective. Some days, my adventures are as simple as dining at Jollibee with my little rock star eating spaghetti, french fries, and choco sundae because that's what makes him happy. Or walking with my husband to the nearby 7-11 to get some late night snacks. Or going to the bookstore alone and get consumed by the smell of books. It can be anything that makes me truly happy!"

"On this blog, I want to show you that living an adventurous life doesn't only mean traveling around the world or doing extreme sports or adventures, although it could be and there's nothing wrong with that if you have the means to do so."

Ladies and gentlemen, I rarely have the means to travel around the world or do extreme sports and adventures. As a working mom, they all require time, effort, and of course money. And I just can't have it all.

Becoming a mom was the turning point of everything adventure used to mean to me. I used to feel so upset and sad for myself because I somehow lost the chance to travel alone and be away because I couldn't leave my son for too long. But to set the record clear, I am not complaining because my son has been the biggest blessing I've had in my life!

But you know what they say about attitude? That the only difference between a good and a bad day is your attitude? That's what I did! I chose to change my perspective and attitude about life. And I've never been happier! I changed the way I see adventure - for real!

Change The Way You See Adventure
*This is my alone-time adventure at the oldest fort in the country. Because I'm not fond of taking selfies, I take shoe selfies instead. That's my kind of adventure.

I told myself that just because I couldn't go to Paris, London, New York, Boracay, Palawan, Batanes, and other touristy places just yet, doesn't mean I can't go on adventures anymore. I can still create my own adventures - whether alone or with my family. My adventures don't have to be big all the time!

And this also doesn't mean that I'm not dreaming big. Because I still am a big dreamer. For me it's just being realistic, practical, being open to new possibilities, and appreciating little things in life.

Spending time with my little family at home or the park? I consider that an adventure. When I get the chance to leave the house alone on a weekend? To me, that's an adventure.

The point is that there are things in your life that will change you for the better - for me, it's motherhood. And while I can no longer just run away and leave on the dot, or impulsively book the cheapest flight I can find online, I know I still get to enjoy my own adventures even if I'm just home.

Yup, it's true that adventure is out there. It's in here too, you know! ;)

Change The Way You See Adventure

If you've been a long time reader of my blog, you know that I document my adventures through my mobile phone and even though I have purchased a big girl camera, I still rely on my phone for quick, convenient, and beautiful snapshots to capture memories.

That's where HUAWEI P9 smartphone comes in and it will definitely change the way I see mobile photography! As you might have known, I've spent some time on street photography using my mobile phone and even have a Snapshots Saturday segment for it.

Huawei P9 is co-enginnered with Leica. It has dual lenses that produce high quality photos and allow users to take amazing monochrome, slo-mo, colored, and light painting photos among others.

Why would this phone change how I see mobile photography? As someone who advocates mobile photography, it is definitely a welcome change to what I've been used to using when taking snapshots. Here's why.

1. Huawei P9 enables you to capture high quality pictures without compromising on the handset's sleek and compact style. It's premium, elegant, and stylish.

2. Shoot better in low light with the dual 12 megapixel cameras and 8 megapixel front-facing camera, to bring professional quality to your photos. Low light is probably the bane of every blogger/photographer's existence so this is definitely perfect to achieve decent photos when the sun's hiding! Something I truly struggle with.

3. Capture clear, fast, and precise imagery. Capturing sharp images is one of the things I aim for when taking photos and a camera phone that does it is definitely a win in my book!

4. Create stunning images through the wide aperture effect. This definitely helps achieve powerful photographic effects. In a regular smartphone, we can't usually control the amount of light that comes in which is why the brightness isn't good enough for us. But with a wide aperture effect, we can have better control of the depth and brightness of our photos.

5. Discover a more vivid world on a stunning 5.2" FHD display with 96% colour saturation and high contrast.

Mobile photography has never been this better. I am truly ecstatic with this innovation. A quality and superb kind of smartphone like Huawei P9 that aims on making mobile photography better for beginners and veterans alike is a big feat. There are so many beautiful adventures and people to capture in this lifetime, and it's amazing that we can now do that through a stylish and compact camera phone.

And to end this heart-felt post, let me just say that there's probably a reason I love this line from Paulo Coelho's book, Eleven Minutes. It's definitely the fact that I see "adventure" in a different way. This is my story.. What's yours?

"I can choose either to be a victim of the world or an adventurer in search of treasure. It's all a question of how I view life."
