#ILoveMyTown Part 1 - Shooting in the Most Unexpected Place

July 28, 2017

Minglanilla, Cebu

Finally! The rain stopped, and I got my lazy butt out from the house last Monday. If you remember, I mentioned in my previous post that I've been meaning to explore and do a photowalk around town here in Minglanilla. I didn't really have a concrete idea in mind but since I dragged my husband to this, he brought me to the most unexpected place.

Unexpected - because although I've been invited to this kind of photowalk before, I've never really done it, and didn't even consider the idea. But since I wanted to step out of my comfort zone, I agreed. It wasn't that bad. In fact, it was kind of refreshing.

So where did our feet lead us?

To the town cemetery! Up, up, and away!

We hired a motorcycle to bring us there. It was up the hills, and even had a great view! It didn't feel like the usual eerie place cemeteries are mostly associated to (but not sure how it is at night?). It was a place of rest, as it should be I believe. I guess the fact that the two cemeteries we went to are private explains why they weren't crowded at all.

There's also one thing I wanna say - the flowers are beautiful! For a moment, I thought of reincarnation when I saw them.

In fact, I took so many photos of the flowers. ;)

Aren't they beautiful?

On a regular day, it's peaceful here. But for sure, during All Saints' and All Souls' Day, this is jam-packed. I remember back in my hometown, there would always be huge parties in cemeteries during those days (which I didn't understand), but the parties were already banned there because people are supposed to celebrate peace in the cemetery? Or so I think. Plus the foot traffic would go crazy!

Then there's this view! It was a first time for me, and I was glad I gave in to it. This place doesn't even have a feel of drama, but who knows what the stories were of the people who were laid to rest in this place. So I guess there's that mystery.

But this doesn't end here, because after this trip, we explored the central town more. Photos on my next post! Maybe, you've done this kind of photowalk before? Let me know! ;)
