Canton King: Where Happy Place & Comfort Food Meet
December 13, 2016
Canton King Singaporean Restaurant in Cebu City has just opened a month ago. The restaurant offers delectable Singaporean dishes that also have a little bit of Filipino touch to suit the needs of its customers. At first, I really didn't know what to expect. I thought they only offer the usual pancit canton or noodles, but I was so wrong!
Canton King is just beside Sampaguita Suites, in Fuente Osmeña (in front of Sterling Bank). It used to be where Razon's Halo-halo was situated. When I entered the place, I was immediately greeted by their accommodating crew. The place is very clean and the interior is simply elegant, and not something that you'll be intimidated with.
Together with my HIBsters foodie friends, I got the chance to chat with Mr. David Choong who is the owner of the restaurant and he explained that the prices of their food are really for the Filipinos. As you know, everything in Singapore is expensive so when people think of a Singaporean restaurant, they might also think that the food price is sky-high and therefore, choose other cheaper alternatives.

You'll be surprised (and delighted) to know that their price range is indeed budget-friendly and even more affordable than other restaurants. We had a feast and after tasting some of their specialties, I was so convinced to go back and bring my family and friends.
Here are some of my blissful food photos. Full prices on the menu will be shown below.
Let's start with my most favorite - lechon!!! If you're a meat-lover then you will obviously love their lechon. Cebu is known to have the best in the country and when people visit, they would always look for lechon. Locals love it too of course.
How different is it from others? They use a Chinese machinery and techniques to cook their lechon so you'll end up with super crunchy and crispy lechon skin and tasty meat that will truly satisfy your tummy. No exaggeration. I wanted to devour the entire lechon but I also wanted my friends to have a taste of it, lol!
Mr. Choong has his own farm in San Fernando so he uses native chicken, pig (pork), and duck in his dishes.
*Ice Kacang - Php 68 (Another favorite!) This one's before the ice melted because we took lots of photos, lol! Then we had to ask them to return it to the fridge first.
Full menu below. They are in the process of updating their menu to make it better for all customers. Right now, they also have a stall in Fuente Circle to offer their best-sellers like the lechon!
The title of this blog post speaks for itself. Canton King can easily be your happy place where you can eat your favorite comfort food. I'm not a food blogger so I don't really critic food but I take lots of photos. So far, I liked everything that I ate at Canton King. My photos may not be enough so it's better if you try the food yourself. ;)
