Why Australia Could Be Your Photographic HeavenThursday, September 29, 2016
No matter what kind of photography you love to do, and no matter what kind of camera you love to do it with, you need a fabulous subject for each shot. Do you enjoy portrait photography? You might be looking for interesting people in fascinating situations. Are landscapes more your thing? Then you could be hunting for extraordinary natural features, and astonishing places.
Australia offers you both. Stunning beaches around the coast, incredible mangroves, and flora, as well as some of the most interesting people in the world are here. You can find a little of everything no matter which city you select. However, each has its own unique character and charm, and you may choose one over the other depending on what shots you’re after.
Melbourne is home to some of the most interesting people. Arts and culture are huge here, so if you’re into the music scene, this could be the place for you. The festivals that are held here bring interesting acts to the arts scene too. They make incredible subjects for a photo shoot. If you’ve booked an airport taxi before arriving in Melbourne, then you won’t have to wait long until you arrive in the city center. Each of Australia’s cities is accessible on foot and public transport. Melbourne’s trams are great fun to get you from district to district quickly.
Sydney is home to the iconic Opera House. Photographing this has become a popular pastime for many amateur and professional photographers. The Harbor Bridge is also a stunning landmark. There are occasions where tours are taken on foot across the bridge. If you can book this, then the views of the city and the boats on the water will have been worth the long haul flight.
Perth is drier than the other cities in Australia. It is also home to some of the most iconic wildlife Australia has to offer. Kangaroos can be found roaming the suburbs in some areas. If these furry hoppers are your chosen subject, you’ll not be disappointed. The city here feels petite, but the best open spaces have the best views of it from up in the hills. There are open air theaters to enjoy incredible views of the stars too.
Brisbane is one of the best cities for enjoying the beaches of Australia. The proximity to the best Gold Coast beaches makes it a very popular destination for tourists. But it is the incredible mangroves and beautiful flora that are native here that makes it one of the best places for a photographer. The weather here is also quite changeable at times. It makes for some beautiful skies in the morning and at dusk.
Inland, Australia offers wild and rugged bushland. Some of the earth here is red, making it all the more vibrant when you find the odd green shrub or bush. It’s hot and difficult to navigate at times. But if you are well-prepared you can find incredible beauty in the most barren of areas.
Where will your photography take you?
