This Is What Your Breakfast Has Been MissingWednesday, August 17, 2016
We all know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. But is it exciting? Not always. Here’s what your breakfast has been missing and how to make it enjoyable again.
You know you’ve woken up in the 21st century when somebody tells you that you can make an omelette in a bag. Someone ingenious and inventive came up with this one over at Allrecipes. It’s simple really. Crack open two eggs and plop them into a Ziploc freezer bag. Press out the air from the bag and then seal. Then shake or squeeze the bag to break the yolks.
Next, dump in your favourite fillings. You can use ham, bacon, chicken, red pepper, onion, cheese - whatever you like. Reseal the bag and then put it into a large pot of water, just about to boil. Then cook on simmer for 13 minutes.
And here’s the great thing about this idea: it’s scalable. Got a large family to feed? Make up as many bags as you like and put them in the pan.
Most of us would be lying if we said we didn’t rely on coffee in the morning. But, let’s face it, our instant coffee blend isn’t exactly the most exciting thing to drink. The problem is, getting artisan coffees is just a massive hassle. We have to find a specialist shop or go online. And most of us can’t be bothered.
But now a few people have decided to make great coffee irresistibly convenient. For example, you can now have freshly roasted coffee by Perk Coffee delivered to your door. What’s more, these companies offer a broad range of different coffees, depending on your preferences. You can taste new kinds of coffee every day with your breakfasts.
Oatmeal has been a staple of the breakfast table for as long as anyone remembers. But let’s face it, it’s a little boring sometimes. It’s especially boring if we do the same things over and over again. However, there are people, like the Oatmeal Artist, dedicated to reviving this breakfast staple.
On the Oatmeal Artist site, you’ll find inspirational oatmeal recipes that could change your life. For example, what about basil and mango topped oatmeal? Or how about peach, ricotta and honey overnight oats? Mango and papaya oatmeal with dragon fruit, anyone?
Ever just wanted to mix your favorite foods together but worried it wouldn’t work? Well, worry no more. Now you can mix bacon and waffles together for a sweet and salty breakfast dish to die for. Just cook the bacon until it is crisp and then cut it into little strips and sprinkle on your waffles. If you would prefer to make your own waffles, there are plenty of recipes online.
After you’ve had your bacon waffles, it’s time to get healthy. And what better way to do that than make a smoothie? Nutribullet is a company that make blenders designed for just that. Right now they’re probably about the best you can get for the price. There are plenty of smoothie ideas online.
So which one do you prefer for breakfast? ♥
