Scenes of Sinulog 2016

Scenes of Sinulog 2016

I'm already quite late with January's Snapshots Saturday, apparently because it's already February and months are getting by so freakin' fast, what is wrong with the earth? jk. This edition is interesting and special because I'm going to feature photos of some awesome bloggers & photographers. What do you say?

For January's edition, Snapshots Saturday will be all about scenes of Sinulog Festival 2016. And since I haven't really walked around to take photos because I had to work and I was trying my very best to avoid the terrible Sinulog traffic, I asked some blogger friends and photographers to see if I can feature their photos and they were generous and gracious enough to share their photos here on Blissful Snapshots.

But first, to those who don't know what Sinulog is.. I mean if you're from the Philippines, why wouldn't you? Lol. It's one of the biggest festivals in the country.

What is Sinulog?
It is an annual cultural and religious festival celebrated on the third Sunday of January in Cebu to honor Sr. Sto. Nino. It is also known to be the center of all Sto. Nino celebrations in the Philippines.

Usually, Sinulog activities are already held days before the festival. There are contests, concerts, flea markets, fireworks display, and processions. Although these activities cause heavy traffic in the city, locals and tourists alike still flock during the festival because of the unwavering devotion of the Cebuanos and the cheerful Sinulog vibe.

I originally just asked for 2 photos each however there are lots of great ones so I ended up including most of them. Thank youuu!! I hope you enjoy these scenes of Sinulog 2016, especially if you're not from Cebu and/or if you don't usually witness this kind of celebration. ;)

These photos are from Emjae who's one of the most passionate photo bloggers I know. He's also from Cebu Blogging Community. Visit his blog, Emjae Fotos, where he shares his adventures and beautiful photographs.

*I really love how Emjae captured the emotions of these Sinulog street dancers!

The next set of photos are from Roy Delez, a professional photographer from Cebu. Although I don't know him personally, his photos amazed me. For a great source of inspiration, you can visit his Facebook page, Roy Delez Photography. Thanks to Herbert Kikoy for leading me to his page.

The last set of photos are from my friend Fong Lei and as he said, these photos were taken using his mobile phone. As an avid fan of mobile photography, I feel that it's just right to feature these mobile photos.
